Cascade Brewing Boosts Draft Beer Sales with Petainer Kegs as an Alternative Solution

Article - 03 October, 2022

Cascade Brewing was founded in 1998 by owner Art Larrance and brew master Ron Gansberg. Together, with 40 years combined beer experience, they worked to design and install Cascade's brewing system in Southwest Portland prior to the creation and distribution of their well-balanced traditional ales.

The trends of traditional ales in the Northwest motivated Cascade Brewing to offer a different sensory experience. They  incorporated wine barrels and local fruit in their manufacture process by wine facilities in the region. This allowed them to achieve a base beer that would be aged for up to a year in wine port and whiskey oak barrels. In 2008, they won bronze at the Great America Beer Festival with an oak barrel-aged sour ale. However, just one year later, they achieved gold and silver in the Wood-and-Barrel-Aged Sour Beer category.

Growth through use of Petainer Kegs

By 2010, the company opened Cascade Brewing Barrel House, the nation's first “House of Sour. By 2014, their growth led them to relocate the facilities in Southwest Portland in order to centralize blending, aging, packaging and distribution. With a wide-ranging distribution area including throughout the U.S. and overseas like Europe and Asia, they found that Petainer one-way kegs were the alternative that would help them drive draft beer sales without having to worry about the return of the keg.

After several iterations of one-way keg options, Petainer was the clear winner based on outstanding customer service, functionality, and pricing. Chris, our territory leas, has gone above and beyond in getting us setup with a great pricing structure and convenient delivery logistics.

Other great benefits obtained with Petainer kegs by this renowned Portland brewery have been the direct impact on their bottom-line thanks to competitive pricing. Additionally, they experienced operational benefits thanks to the design of the keg, such as the ability to stack Petainer kegs several pallets which helps with warehouse & inventory management.
